50th Anniversary
of the
Northern Fire Brigades Golfing Society

On the 10th of September 2008 the NFBGS celebrated its Golden Jubilee, formed from an idea of Joe Ball from Lancashire back in 1958.

Bob Goodman of North Yorkshire organised the event at his home club of Fulford, York.
A fine venue. The fee was 50 including the buffet. Play started early through until midday for the fifty one players taking part.

All the brigades were represented, there was also one guest Steve Theaker from Humberside and the Captain of Fulford Mick Chalmers. Each one collected a bag tag and pamphlet before their round.

The greens were perfect being hand cut that day and the tee blocks were moved back to club competition positions. The sun shone and the buffet was brilliant.

A special presentation took place with the winners of each division, a guest Prize and
best gross score being presented with a glass memento by Mick Chalmers.

The President Peter Halleron of Lancashire remarked that this had been a splendid way to acknowledge 50 years and hoped that the next 50 would be just as good.
